Reflective Consultation Resources
What is Reflective Consultation?
As early childhood professionals, we are always looking for resources and tools that help us grow and be the best that we can be for the children, families, and colleagues that we support. Reflective consultation (RC) is a powerful tool that practitioners across early childhood can use to reflect on and grow their practice. RC is a collaborative process built on trust and relationships, where a consultant guides an individual or group in reflecting on their thoughts, feelings, practices, reactions, and experiences in their work with educators, families, and children.

Pssst! Not sure about the difference between "reflective supervision" and "reflective consultation"? You're not alone!
In both, a trained facilitator guides you in reflecting on your work, your reactions, and your experiences as an early childhood educator or administrator. The key difference lies in the relationship:
-
A Reflective Supervisor is your direct supervisor or director who uses reflective techniques within your workplace. Think of it as reflective facilitation built into your existing supervisory relationship.
-
A Reflective Consultant is an external, third-party guide. They bring an outside perspective, free from the internal dynamics of your workplace.
