Join COAEYC's Board for the 2024-2026 term!

Thank you for your interest in joining the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children's Board of Directors! We are so excited to welcome new (or possibly returning) early childhood changemakers to our team. Our meetings are virtual with the possibility of hybrid (in-person with virtual option) in the future. We invite people from all areas of Colorado to apply! This is a large state with very unique communities and we would love to have as many areas represented as possible.


In 2024, COAEYC will fill 3 seats for the term beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2026. The application will close on March 3, 2023.


The length of service for this position is two years beginning on July 1. Board members may serve two consecutive terms if re-elected.

Board Meetings are currently the third Thursday  of each month from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, but are subject to change depending on the availability of board members. COAEYC's board meetings are virtual and monthly.


 Orientation for new board members in 2024 will take place Tuesday, July 2 at 6:00pm. In lieu of a board meeting, a board governance training for all board members will be held in person on July 20 2024 from 9am-1pm. Location TBD.

This is a working board. COAEYC contracts with an individual to perform administrative duties and act as executive director, and depends on board engagement to complete projects, so you are expected to attend and participate if elected onto the board. 


Election Process

  1. The application is open to anyone in the community who is interested in serving on COAEYC’s board. Applicants do not need to be members at the time of their application but must join or renew their membership by April 1 of the election year. Candidates do not need to be working in the early childhood field to be considered.

  2. Board Members will reach out to candidates for a phone call to confirm interest, introduce themselves, and answer any questions that candidates might have. Board Members will also reach out to the candidate’s references.

  3. The Nominations and Elections Committee will present the slate to the Board of Directors for an official vote of approval. Once the slate has been approved, the Nominations and Elections Committee will reach out to the candidates for a photo, written statement, and brief  (1-minute) introductory video for the ballot.

  4. The slate will be announced to COAEYC’s Membership on April 1st. Members will watch the videos, read the statements, and get to know the candidates before voting opens.

  5. Voting will begin on May 1 and end on May 31 at 11:59 pm. All members with an active membership (“in good standing”) are eligible to vote. The ballot is created through the electronic Election Runner platform and is handled by the Nominations and Elections Committee. Once the election begins, Election Runner “locks” the ballot and does not allow any changes to be made.

  6. Candidates will be notified and acceptance confirmed the first week of June. Results will be publicly posted around June 15th, but no later than June 30th.

  7. Candidates will be onboarded within the first two weeks of July (usually after the holiday).
